immigration agents booked for possession of fake stamps
Mohali: Two persons from an immigration company in Mohali have been booked by local police following the raid conducted by the enforcement directorate (ED) at their office in Phase X, Mohali where 30 counterfeit stamps were found on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Gurinder Singh, the owner of Seabird International Private Limited, an immigration company at Phase X. He has been booked for cheating and criminal conspiracy. Gurinder, along with his partner, Pritpal Singh, a resident of Sector 70, Mohali have been collectively booked under the Arms Act at Mataur Police Station. One replica of a handgun was found from the latter's house on Wednesday. The local police is ascertaining the hideouts of the accused persons. As per information, the ED recovered 27 fake stamps of senior government officials, including deputy commissioners, tehsildar, three stamps of bank authorities and executive magistrates, and one of a doctor was also recovered.
